What Exactly is Happy Cicada Photography

Did you know that in the region of Provence in southeastern France, cicadas are seen as symbols of good fortune and happiness?

Happy Cicada Photography isn't just a photography studio, it's a storytelling studio. You have special moments in your life, and you want to preserve them. Well, it just so happens that the studio owner is a published author, and she would love to tell your story.

Getting professional photos done can be expensive. It doesn't have to be though. Sometimes you need to put together a session for an important reason, and you just can't seem to fit it into your budget. Happy Cicada strives to keep documenting special moments within a range that everyone can afford.

Meet the Happy Cicada Staff

Rebecca started Happy Cicada Photography while living in her home town in 2017. After moving to the Oklahoma City metro, she continued doing photography and eventually found a need for an assistant. So she enlisted her best friend to join in her adventures of taking pictures and telling stories. Together, they promise to make your photography sessions joyful and memorable.

Rebecca

Photographer, Storyteller, and Owner

Hello there! I'm Rebecca, and I would love to tell your story. Growing up, I loved hearing the legends the tribal elders would tell and the stories my parents would tell me about how things used to be. Storytelling is a huge part of my culture on both sides of my family. I also believe that even the smallest of milestones can be worth celebrating. This eventually led me to creative writing. During college, I discovered a love of photography that has grown into what is now Happy Cicada Photography.

My promise to make having professional photos accessible to everyone comes from having been through a time in my life when I couldn't get some things that I needed on my own because life throws us curveballs sometimes. Sometimes you have to reach out for help, and that can be hard. Trust me, I know. I never imagined that I would be a cancer survivor in my 30s. It was hard to ask for help sometimes, and there were many times when I didn't feel beautiful. Going through treatments for nine months emphasized to me that life happens. You should do your best to have fun while living it because you never know what moment will be your last, and everyone deserves to feel beautiful exactly the way they are.

I've had my photography featured by several news outlets, the Department of Veterans Affairs, charitable organizations, businesses, and churches.

Mandy

Assistant Photographer Extraordinaire

Nice to meet you! I’m Mandy the best assistant any photographer could ask for and that's not just me saying that.

As an Oklahoma native, I’ve been blessed to live in a beautiful state that I’ve been able to capture memories of with my best friend. Life is too short not to enjoy the fun times with those you cherish. As the saying goes, “a picture is worth a thousand words” and I’d love to hear your story!

I'm more than happy to help you with getting exactly what you want out of your photography session be it portraits of you, your pets, or even just fancy pictures of your business.
